We have also introduced a number of innovative features such as live RSS news streaming using Rebel Mouse and the novel use of accordions to hide and reveal content – all combining to make the websites more efficient and enjoyable to experience.
One of the most important changes is that they are now responsive websites or mobile friendly – which means they respond to the needs of the users and devices they are using, and the site layout changes based on the size and capabilities of the device being used to view them.
This is important for a number of reasons, firstly it means that these sites are easy to read on mobile devices, which has now overtaken desktop as the most popular way to access the internet. But it also means that when Google launch their new responsiveness algorithm on April 21st of this year, the search rankings on the pages on these sites will be boosted as each page is assessed for mobile friendliness.
Finally, there is a regularly updated, easy to read blog – another key area which search engines use to identify whether your website is active and will in turn be reflected in the position of the sites’ search results.
