Simon Says is a Hampshire based charity that provides child bereavement support to children, their carers, relatives and teachers.
We were commissioned by the Trustees to do a website refresh, giving it a modern look and feel whilst also simplifying the navigation which was far too complex and clumsy. They also wanted the website to show visitors the rich and collective experiences that were being enjoyed by everyone involved in the charity.
Firstly, we designed a tablet style home page that directed the individual stakeholders, whether they be carers, volunteers or teachers, more quickly to their relevant areas with a reduced number of clicks.
In the centre of the page is an animation, narrated by bereaved children, describing their experiences. This is a poignant and moving film and serves to highlight the need for such a worthwhile cause.
We then simplified the navigation with a new menu structure, introduced breadcrumbs and reduced the total number of website pages by a third - simplifying the user experience.
The vibrancy of the activity being undertaken to support this charity is highlighted at the bottom of the homepage drawing attention to the Latest News, the Gallery, the Facebook feed and other timely social media elements as well as the opportunity to donate immediately using the ‘Donate Now’ button.
